For my exercise i wanted to do the "Michael Jordan Statue" which is located in-front of the United Center where the Chicago Bulls play. Michael Jordan also none as MJ, Legend and G.O.A.T. which is Greatest Of All Times had brought the team 6 chamionship rings and is one the most talked about players still today. He was such an icon to everyone with the way the played the game of basketball. To remember his history they decided to created a statue to remind others of his greatest when come to see games. He wasn't the only player to have a statue there are plenty of other players who had opportunity to have that player's statue in a certain place but to me this is the most iconic to me.

Seeing The Past in Present Tense

I believe that monuments should only be to people who have done something heroic in there lives and can be recognized on a global stage. I can see why some get angry due to reason of some people who believe that they're higher than others and think they should have a monument for themselves for others to see even though they haven't done anything to have one. To me a good example of a good monument is Micheal Jordan monument in front of the bulls stadium in Chicago. He changed the game from beyond the court.  That's why he is recognized as the GOAT (Greatest Of All Time) because he is recognized as a global icon and brought the NBA the opportunity to be watched globally. After watching the documentary featuring Maya Lin's Vietnam's memorial i give the respect on how she presented herself and how she handled the negative input others made about her design and criticism about her ethnicity and gender as well. We have to just look at the image she was trying to show and understand that she was trying to respect the ones that have fallen.

MIami Trip: Day 1 and Day 2

For my project i decided to do my trip to South Beach in Miami, FL. The Yellow dots indicate the walk around from the hotel to the Ocean Drive street and back to the hotel. While walking around me and a group of friends that went started our Instagram profiles with our trip so we took pictures everywhere we went. Day 2 in red we went to the beach and was there for awhile. We walked pretty far that day and got a lot of photos on the beach. We stay for five days and basically went back and forth from the outside mall and the beach. I highlighted with the Instagram photo indicated where we took photos at that particular time.

Project 3

For my project i going to show a map of where most of the upcoming high school draft heading in to college for football and basketball. Most of the time we think its from the mid west but it may actually be more towards the coast. I always pay attention to what schools get what types of players to their rosters.
I enjoy watching and playing the game of football and basketball. Sometimes some teams get good players and sometimes the ones they get don't live to their ranking. So I'm going to do the top 100 recruits from football and basketball that are entering for the fall of 2015 to there specific college.

Cultural Jamming

After reading this essays i definitely agree with what he says about how times has changed and we look more at television than we do books. The 21st century is basically all digital in my eyes because there's nothing we cant find on the internet. Books have became ancient or barely used but in replacement for the book they have digital made them available for your phones without using no trees at all. TV and news can be helpful and also dangerous depending on what they give information on and how in depth they go  on the investigation. The new reports anything that can peoples attention and can sometimes ruin others careers and lifestyles. We live in a day in age were nothing is kept secret and whatever you do on the internet others is watching you and business can search you and find stuff that could mess up your opportunity for a certain job. Subliminal messages have always been around and i have watch so many videos and documentaries on this matter so it doesn't surprise me when i was reading that sections. But overall i believe getting rid of books and making them all digital is not bad when it comes to environmental safety and preserving our forests.

Flesh and Metal

In this article she was explaining the diffidence between body and embodiment. A good part that i pulled out of the text she said "The body is the human form seen from the outside, from a cultural perspective striving to make representations that can stand in for bodies in general. Embodiment is experienced from the inside, from the feelings, emotions, and sensations that constitute the vibrant living textures of our lives—all the more vibrant because we are only occasionally conscious of their humming vitality. " So when others see me they see an African American student since i go here, and embodiment I'm usually calm, friendly, energetic and very creative at times.

Chance & Indeterminacy

You will need a red and blue pen or color pencil
Step 1: Get a piece of paper
Step 2: Draw a straight line down the middle
Step 3: Have a coin to flip
Step 4: Start writing down your results

1st Flip
Heads: Blue Diamond
Tails: Red Diamond

2nd Flip
Heads: Left Side
Tails: Right Side

My Results:
After completing this process about 30 times it shows that i had more heads then tails. I also see i had more blue diamonds then reds, as well as more on the left side than the right side of the paper. I believe if i did this process again i think it was going to be a different turn out with the opposite of what i got this time.

3 Artist Of Intrest

My first artist choice is ERWIN REDL. The reason i picked him because i like how he used lighting in his designs or artwork. My favorite pictures are the CUBES because it gives a different effect with the clear cubes with different colors reflecting off of them when your looking at them. Another one is the Laser exhibit with the laser going off the walls and also just the color options he used to do these.

My second artist is Electroland. I like that they apply there artwork to buildings because for awhile i use to sketch out buildings and always made them standout with different types or appearances that you don't normally see on buildings in this day or age. My favorite one from this artist is the City National Towers. What they did was made a ring in between the two towers and it looks like its floating in mid air. Another one is called "Pulse". What this does is when a vehicle or person walks passed this building a blue color flow or pulse will show up and following in the same directions they're going.

My Third choice is Amy Youngs. A little crazy in some of her artwork but a few of them caught my eye. The "Glitch Wallpaper" is a little bit funny because it looks as if the wall is not finish or  is trying to download the rest of the wall. When dealing with watching videos and this sometimes happens its outgoing to put it on a wall.

My Thoughts

This article in my opinion is stating the meaning or reason behind having art throughout certain times in history. Through art and artist they show multiples meanings behind their art work pertaining to certain issues going on or just to express their idea through a picture or even a sculpture. Seeing artist as scientist or the other way around seems a little uncommon as a comparison but some ways i can see where they are trying to explain. For example scientist try to create something or somethings using ingredients, chemicals and technology that others wouldn't try to work with. Some are successful and others fail but keeps striving to success. Once they have it created they show it to the world and watch how others are amazed by their new creation or technology. Same goes for artist, artist try to make something out of nothing and make one piece mean so much to people. They sometimes have to throw away a couple of ideas but in the end they know whats right and whats wrong for the art. In the end when they showcase they're art people see them as masterpieces and sometimes would go down in history.
