For my exercise i wanted to do the "Michael Jordan Statue" which is located in-front of the United Center where the Chicago Bulls play. Michael Jordan also none as MJ, Legend and G.O.A.T. which is Greatest Of All Times had brought the team 6 chamionship rings and is one the most talked about players still today. He was such an icon to everyone with the way the played the game of basketball. To remember his history they decided to created a statue to remind others of his greatest when come to see games. He wasn't the only player to have a statue there are plenty of other players who had opportunity to have that player's statue in a certain place but to me this is the most iconic to me.

Seeing The Past in Present Tense

I believe that monuments should only be to people who have done something heroic in there lives and can be recognized on a global stage. I can see why some get angry due to reason of some people who believe that they're higher than others and think they should have a monument for themselves for others to see even though they haven't done anything to have one. To me a good example of a good monument is Micheal Jordan monument in front of the bulls stadium in Chicago. He changed the game from beyond the court.  That's why he is recognized as the GOAT (Greatest Of All Time) because he is recognized as a global icon and brought the NBA the opportunity to be watched globally. After watching the documentary featuring Maya Lin's Vietnam's memorial i give the respect on how she presented herself and how she handled the negative input others made about her design and criticism about her ethnicity and gender as well. We have to just look at the image she was trying to show and understand that she was trying to respect the ones that have fallen.
